Discovery Day ONLINE - Western Canada

A virtual event on Accelevents
Thursday, November 21, 2024
8:30 am - 2:15 pm PST | 9:30 am - 3:15 pm MST

We invite high school students and young adult learners in rural, remote and Indigenous communities across British Columbia, Alberta, the Yukon and Northwest Territories to meet us online on November 21 to explore careers in medicine and the health sciences.

Our program begins at 8:30 am PST | 9:30 am MST on the event platform Accelevents and comprises exhibits, a keynote lecture, two interactive workshops of choice pre-selected from a catalogue of options and discussion with a panel of academics/professionals from various related fields. The event also includes three breaks which offer participants an optional peer networking opportunity as well.

From a catalogue of options, participants will select their own workshops of interest during the student registration process. Please note that this is considered an individual learning exercise. Workshop spaces are limited. Teachers are welcome to take part as well.

Participants will require their own email address, access to a computer/laptop/Chromebook, headphones, webcam (optional), internet connection and a quiet space. This may mean they attend virtually from home or in a dedicated space at school.

STEP 1: SCHOOL REGISTRATION

A contact teacher must first register their school using the link below. This an expression of interest and does not obligate you to have students register, nor does it guarantee space will be available when they go online to do so.
