What happened after high school?

After high school I immediately attended post-secondary. I started my journey working at a pharmacy as a pharmacy assistant for 7 years, went to school for psych nursing, and now I'm in school for Opticianry!

What do you remember from the Discovery Day event and what impact did it have on you?

I remember doing a lot of different dives into different careers. There was one for gynecology, the information I learned there actually taught me more about sex ed than school did! I learned how to stay safe and carried that knowledge with me to this day! Even though I'm not in the field I gained a huge interest in learning about women's reproductive health and I think it's something every woman or person with a uterus should know about. No one is having this conversation outside of a school setting so it was very much a core memory for me.

Any advice for high school students?

Use all the resources available to you. If you have trouble studying, there are groups that teach you how to study. See your school counselors, guidance counselors student resources. Do what it takes for your future. Don't worry about how long it takes, everything is done in its own time. Please cherish everything you are taught. Passing down knowledge is in our blood, learn, lead and teach the next generation.
