What happened after high school?
Upon entering university, I completed a bachelor's degree in biomedical sciences to learn more about the human body and the various pathologies involved. As someone who greatly values human contact, I later decided to pursue a doctorate in medicine to follow my childhood dream of becoming a doctor.
This story continued this year in 2024 when I had the privilege of volunteering on December 8th for the Discovery Day at Université Laval, now being my turn to share my passion for health sciences, and more specifically medicine, with others.
What do you remember from the Discovery Day event and what impact did it have on you?
My journey with the CMHF began in 2016 when I participated in the annual health day at Université Laval. I remember it as if it were yesterday: I arrived at the pavilion with great curiosity, and I ended the day telling myself that there was no way I would do anything other than work in healthcare.
Any advice for high school students?
When I first attended the Health Science Discovery Day in 2016 at Université Laval, I had no idea how much it would shape my future. It opened my eyes to the incredible different opportunities in healthcare, and now, as a medical student, I can look back and see how that moment helped guide me here.
My advice? Stay curious. Explore every opportunity, ask questions, and don’t be afraid to step out of your comfort zone by trying something new. Remember, the journey into health sciences isn’t just about studying—it’s about discovering how you can make a real difference. The path won’t always be easy but trust that every challenge brings you one step closer to your goals. You may just find your passion along the way, just like I did.
