Yundi Wang

Liaison, Canadian Federation of Medical Students

Yundi Wang is a medical student at the University of British Columbia where she also completed her Ph.D. in Neuroscience. During her Ph.D. she investigated cortical circuit and skilled fine motor changes in models of Huntington Disease under the supervision of Dr. Timothy H. Murphy and Dr. Lynn A. Raymond. Yundi has contributed to 12 research publications and was awarded several scholarships throughout her academic journey including the Vanier Canada Graduate Scholarship. Having a passion for patient advocacy, Yundi co-leads the Participant Advisory Committee for the BC Brain Wellness Program. The committee consists of caregivers and patients with chronic brain conditions across BC who together advocate and advise on freely accessible education seminars as well as exercise, art, music and lifestyle classes directed at patients and caregivers. Yundi has also been an active member in the community volunteering as a Chimo Crisis Line Responder/Coach as well as serving on the Board for Salal Sexual Violence Support Centre and Vice-President University & Academic Affairs for the Graduate Student Society where she advocated for student wellbeing and safe campus re-opening following Covid lockdown. Yundi hopes to continue supporting an inclusive and integrated approach to health and wellness that incorporates lifestyle changes and preventative measures, medical research as well as patient advocacy.
