Deborah Money

Dr. Deborah Money is a Professor in the Departments of Obstetrics and Gynaecology Medicine and the School of Population and Public Health, Faculty of Medicine, and an affiliate member of the Department of Microbiology and Immunology, Faculty of Science, at The University of British Columbia (UBC). She is an active clinician scientist based at the Women’s Health Research Institute and runs a Reproductive Infectious Diseases (RID) research program with projects in the maternal/infant microbiome and HIV in women, and leading the study of the safety, immunogenicity and efficacy of the HPV vaccine in girls and women living with HIV in Canada, publishing more than 200 peer reviewed publications.

Since the COVID-19 pandemic she launched CANCOVID-Preg, evaluating the outcome following COVID-19 for pregnant women and their infants. She is on the COVID-19 Federal Immunity Task Force and is the lead for a pan-Canadian SARS-CoV-2 serosurveillance study using antenatal sera. She is now establishing a Canadian vaccine registry to study the safety and effectiveness of the COVID-19 vaccines in pregnancy.

Previously, she was the inaugural Executive Director of the Women’s Health Research Institute (WHRI), until taking on the role of Executive Vice-Dean, Faculty of Medicine, UBC, a term completed in June 2020.
