The Canadian Medical Hall of Fame announced the 2025 Inductees
London, ON – Chair of the Canadian Medical Hall of Fame (CMHF) Lehana Thabane, PhD announced today that following a rigorous nomination and selection process, the outstanding achievement and impact of six Canadians will be recognized with induction into the Canadian Medical Hall of Fame:
Nadine R. Caron, OBC MD MPH FRCSC MCM | An innovative leader in Indigenous health and surgical practice
Northern Medical Program, University of British Columbia, Prince George Regional Hospital
Deborah Cook, OC MD FRCPC FRSC | A pioneering researcher in critical care medicine
Department of Medicine and Department of Health Research Methods, Evidence and Impact, Faculty of Health Sciences, McMaster University
Geoffrey T. Fong, OC PhD FRSC FCAHS | A world-leading public health researcher
Department of Psychology and School of Public Health Sciences, University of Waterloo, and Ontario Institute for Cancer Research
Steven Narod, MD FRCPC FRSC | A brilliant investigator in cancer genetics

Canadian Medical Hall of Fame Laureates are Canadian citizens whose outstanding leadership and contributions to medicine and the health sciences, in Canada or abroad, have led to extraordinary improvements in human health. Their work may be a single meritorious contribution or a lifetime of superior accomplishments. Pioneers in their field, they are role models who inspire young Canadians to pursue careers in the health sciences. "The Canadian Medical Hall of Fame is proud to celebrate Canadian excellence and achievement in health, and we welcome these six individuals whose outstanding contributions have made Canada, and the world, a better place," said Dr. Thabane. "Their impact is well documented, and they have earned their place alongside our 161 Laureates.”
These Canadian and international leaders will be celebrated at a ceremony held in association with McMaster University, Faculty of Health Sciences on June 19, 2025, in Hamilton, Ontario. “McMaster University’s Faculty of Health Sciences is delighted to host the 2025 Canadian Medical Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony,” said Dr. Paul O’Byrne, Dean and Vice-President of the Faculty of Health Sciences at McMaster. “The ceremony presents an exciting opportunity to celebrate highly respected medical leaders whose significant achievements and contributions have had a profound impact on patients, practice, policy and health research.”
